Early in December, we received a sobering reminder. We learned that one of the twin orphan girls we’ve supported since 2022 had been taken to Kathmandu. A man promised her a better life and education.

Thankfully, with the help of Child Rescue Nepal and their local contacts, the team rescued her within 24 hours. We raised the alarm quickly. She was quickly reunited with her family. They will receive extra support. Regular check-ins will keep her and her twin sister safe.

Sadly, Jamuna’s story is far from unique—around 20,000 children are trafficked in Nepal each year. While we don’t yet know what she endured in that house, it’s clear she was in serious trouble. She was exploited for domestic chores. Her life was far from what she was promised.

We stay committed to protecting vulnerable children and are grateful to everyone supporting this mission. Together, we can make a difference.

Here are photographs of them looking well and happy when we visited in March 2024.
