Who are Helping Hands for Nepal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Helping Hands for Nepal was founded in response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May 2015. Thousands of lives were lost, entire communities were destroyed, and schools, homes and vital infrastructure were reduced to rubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When friends in Nepal launched a local relief effort, two women from York felt compelled to help. They travelled to one of Nepal’s most remote mountain communities, joining an international team of volunteers to rebuild a school and give children the opportunity to continue their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What began as a single act of compassion has grown into a long-term commitment to supporting vulnerable children and communities in Nepal. Today, Helping Hands for Nepal works alongside trusted local partners to provide education, improve living conditions, and create brighter futures through sustainable, community-led projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we believe that even the smallest helping hand can change a life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warmth, resilience and generosity of the Nepalese people left a lasting impression, inspiring the creation of Helping Hands for Nepal. What began as a small fundraising initiative soon grew into a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and communities across Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the early years, funds were raised through the sale of authentic Nepalese cashmere pashminas, ponchos and handcrafted artisan gifts under the Amadablam Cashmere brand. Every purchase helped support education projects, local communities and a young girl living in Thamel, Kathmandu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As awareness of our work grew, so did our community of supporters. Friends, volunteers and local businesses joined our mission, enabling us to expand our impact. Although plans were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a dedicated team travelled to Nepal in 2022 to work alongside local builders, decorators and community leaders. Together, they transformed learning environments at Jalpa Devi and Jalpa Shree schools in Sindhupalchok District, creating brighter, safer and more inspiring places for children to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Helping Hands for Nepal continues to raise funds for sustainable education and community projects, working hand in hand with trusted local partners to create lasting change. Every fundraising event, donation and volunteer makes a real difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
